His oeuvre currently comprises 140 compositions. Some of them are published by Schott-Verlag.
Renowned interpreters such as Gidon Kremer, Liana Issakadze, Masha Dimitrieva, Anna Gourari or Lisa Batiashvili perform his works.
At the age of seven, Igor Loboda received violin lessons from Konstantin Vardeli and Prof. Leo Shiukashvili. From 1974 to 1979 he studied composition at the Tbilisi Conservatory with Prof. A. Shaverashvili and with Prof. Zitovitch in St. Petersburg. He won prizes at composition competitions in Tbilisi (1976) and Moscow (1978). Since 1981 Igor Loboda has been a member of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, for which he has written numerous arrangements. Influences of Georgian and Russian folklore and a special jazz feeling characterise his compositions.
“The composer and violinist is known as the “Devil’s Violinist of Ingolstadt” – but Igor Loboda is not only a gifted violinist, but also an equally masterful composer. Born in Tbilisi in 1956, he has absorbed the melodies of his Georgian homeland with his mother’s milk. With his fellow musicians, he came to Ingolstadt in 1990 – to settle here as a member of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra. He therefore does not have much time to write his own works – nevertheless, a remarkable, highly virtuosic and original oeuvre has emerged from his pen over the years.
His musical trademark: the fusion of mischievous comedy and enigmatic seriousness in their unmistakable narrative style. This clearly proves that Ingolstadt and the region are eagerly awaiting further performances of his works.” (Heike Haberl – Kulturkanal Ingolstadt)
